Quote from Power Duck on October 6, 2023, 10:01 amThanks for the response Bel.
Yeah last year my self esteem and behaviour changed as soon as I received power moves, I knew something was wrong but I assumed it had to do with me.
Yesterday however, the most I experienced was stress and a little decline in my self esteem, but it wasn't as significant as in the past since I know this is a matter of skills not self worth.
I guess I'm saying you already have an advantage here - that of being able to see it all as a big experiment, where you can tweak things going forward more and more.
Funny enough, now that you mention it, lately I'm way more detached, yesterday I went assertive with a guy of my class via whatsapp and although it didn't end very well it affected to me way less than I expected.
I guess that when one realizes the existence of those dynamics it becomes clear that it isn't a matter of self worth it's simply a matter of instincts and fighting for status with skills, just as lions kill offspring to avoid competition from appearing, or just as dogs use play to physically dominate other members of the pack.
It isn't about the person, but about the laws of nature.
Thanks for the response Bel.

After what happened the other day my disciplined and "inner fire" went rock bottom. I couldn't come up with an explanation, but after Lucio's response today I've found it:
- You can't be disciplined and ambitious if you have no self respect.
No wonder why high achievers are usually high power individuals. We become what we think about. Including what we think about ourselves.

Ambition, drive and inner fire have to be cared and fed in order for them to grow and be maintained.
That means reminding myslef of the dreams I wish to bring to reality daily, being thankful for being closer to achieving the goals I wish to accomplish each day. And last remembering the past, who I was, who I am and who I whish to embody every moment of my life. It is what I think every moment what determines what my mind will set me up to accomplish, manly and orderly thoughts lead to manly and orderly habits, anxious and fearful thoughts lead to undisciplined and unmanly habits.
In my case the drive to succed and thrive despite all handicaps doesn't come from a desire to get a material object or to get status, wealth or a partner, it comes from a deep desire to become that which I never was able to be during most of my life when I most needed to, it comes from a strong desire to do what I know I have to do in every moment, it comes from embodying my ideal self at any given moment.
My dream, is to live life at its fullest while thinking: "this is who I want to be, this is what I truly want to do, and there's no stopping me from doing it".
There must be no space in my mind for any other thing that doesn't lead to accomplishing my dream, at least, for the moment.

Quote from John Freeman on October 9, 2023, 9:50 pmHey man,
as you know I love and share this spirit. What I do is that I printed pictures of my dream woman and dream body and put them near my bed.
I used to use vision boards (yes they work) but now I do a simpler version of them. It can be time consuming to do a vision board. Time-scale year to a couple of years for it to work in my experience. I noticed some time ago that I had done most of the things on my vision board.
The other way I do this is reading my story (almost) everyday. It’s structured as my identity, social life, work, friends, family, health. For each one I wrote a short paragraph of what I want my life to be. Then it’s self-brainwash. Again it works. Time scale: months-year to see the result.
I also have messages that I want to put into my brain on my walls in my bedroom.
So I’m a huge believer in self-brainwashing. The trick is choosing what we will put in our minds. These methods allows us to do so. The goal is to nourish the subconscious with images of our goals and the thoughts we want to think.

Quote from Power Duck on October 9, 2023, 10:35 pmThanks John.
I used to think that with subliminals and affirmations every now and then I was good but this past days have shown me that I wasn't. Fortunately I've found the way to get in the right mindset again.
Will start writing my story this very night, although I searched for it some time ago I couldn't find what it was about but now I get the idea. I understand that it consist on writing what you want in your life and then repeating in your mind those things, as if you already were them and as if you already had those things which you desire, am I missing something?
Will set an alarm to do a vision board asap, otherwise I'll forget.
I fully agree about self brainwashing. I find it paradoxical, if you believe that brainwashing works it will work, if you believe that it doesn't then it won't.
Cheers.
Thanks John.

I fully agree about self brainwashing. I find it paradoxical, if you believe that brainwashing works it will work, if you believe that it doesn't then it won't.
Yep, the power of belief!
Yes, you write it in present. Short sentences if possible.
For instance:
I'm the kind of man who finds his purpose. I'm the kind of man who's independent. I get respect and earn my independence easily. It's easy for me to get what I want in life. I always find and meet people helping me to take my life to the next level.
It might sound tacky to some but who cares: you write it for you. And then you can refine it. I would aim for half an A4 page. Otherwise if it's too long one does not read it.
Happy to share more or answer your questions about these techniques of course.

Quote from Power Duck on October 9, 2023, 10:42 pmAn approach could be a normal conv.
Today I saw quite an attractive girl at the gym around my age. I caught her looking at me a couple of times, and funny enough after some time she went to do an exercise with one of the machines I was doing a rotation with, although there were more of the same machines without nobody using them.
To sum it up, after some time thinking about it (around 10 min lol) just when I decided to start talking to her, and ask her if she was new to the gym she just took her things and went to another machine. Didn't see her again.
So I thing that the right mindset here is to talk the same way I would talk to a guy. I can start a conv with anyone out of nowhere with ease but pretty girls seem to be my weak point. Thinking of them as friends or as if they were men, that is: not being sexually interested in them usually does the trick, a weird approach but does its purpose.
So if I see her again tomorrow or another day I'll talk to her a bit and test her interest. Just a hello and chatting a bit would suffice, after all I wouldn't find it that much of a deal if she were a guy.
P.S:
Have to work a bit more on attachment styles and finish the book John recommended me.

Quote from Roberto on October 9, 2023, 11:27 pmHello Power Duck!
Yeah, beautiful girls are just something else man... I think the approach (thinking of them as friends) you have in mind is consistent with what I've been doing for some time. Like you, normal girls don't pose a challenge to me in the means of you are needy, get nervous or don't know what to say.
One thing to keep in mind, that I've personally struggled with, is that if you think of someone as a male peer, you may start treating them like one.
The catch with beautiful girls is that they don't get approached often because many men are afraid to approach them. BUT if they do, it's either a guy who is totally drunk to calm his nerves or a guy who is going the friend route. I think what these girls are looking for (based on my personal experience) is a confident guy who makes his interest clear and can see beyond their looks. If you can do that while thinking of them as male friends, great! Just a note on what this thinking pattern has made me do. Feel free to ignore it if it doesn't do you any good.
